Janet Fulton - percussion

Janet has a wealth of experience working with young people of all ages in a wide range of musical settings throughout the country. She is the principal percussionist with Manchester Camerata, regularly appearing at Bridgewater Hall, has played with several leading orchestras including the BBC Philharmonic and receives frequent invitations from the Hallé. She has performed at both Aldeburgh festivals. Recently she has been invited to perform in two premiere concerto performances, both of which entail a demanding role for percussion.

She has appeared on Radio 3 and Songs of Praise several times and has worked with many famous musicians from Cliff Richard to Keri te Kanawa and Lesley Garrett. In 2001 she took part in the premiere performance for a new opera for school children at the Bridgewater Hall. She is also a tutor for the National Youth Orchestra of Wales.

Nearer to home, she tutors young percussionists attending the Yorchestra holiday school held 3 times a year and students at York St John College. Janet also examines and has recently written a songbook for primary schools.

She ran a highly successful workshop in September 2005 for 55 teachers from our network of schools. She is now a patron of Sowerby Music Society and performed for a Sowerby Music concert in February 2007.
