GSM radio modem

The GX102 Terminal is a compact GPRS and GSM cellular radio modem for the transfer of emails, data, voice, SMS text messages and fax over the mobile telephone network.

Industrial standard interfaces and an integrated SIM card reader mean it can be used rapidly, easily and universally as a tri-band GPRS or GSM Terminal. Use the SIM card from your mobile phone.

Its performance and the robust housing make it easier to quickly implement new applications in areas such as telemetry. Suitable for most parts of the world including North America.

To begin you need the Starter Pack. For the current price and more details see here

GSM radio modems

A GSM radio modem is equivalent to a cell phone but responds to an extended set of modem AT commands. The support software #EMAIL.TDS and #GSM.TDS were developed using GX102 Terminal with one socket connected to a serial port on a TDS2020F computer and another to an antenna. We suggest you use the GX102, but most terminals conforming to GSM phase 2 specifications should work with the software, except the email facility, which is specific to this terminal.

Requirements

To use a GSM modem you need an operational SIM card - one from a current mobile telephone should be suitable. If you wish to use the dial-in feature (second of the four described above) you will also need to ask the network operator for a data telephone number. This will be different from the usual analog number. To send emails you should ask for a GPRS extension to your GSM mobile phone contract.
